Autumn leaf
For three months I have watched you change.
From green, to yellow to every shade of red. Every year this time comes around and every year I am in awe of the beauty of you.
I cannot help but ponder the way you know exactly how the time is changing. Turning from a life that is full and bright to one that turns inwards to rest in the quieter times.
To watch as you fall, showering me with colour as the wind blows, stops me in my tracks. As I look up and see you in the back drop of the bright blue sky, I find myself unable to comprehend the sense of calm that washes through me.
I can feel you calling me to rest with you. To fold into the cold and tuck myself in somewhere warm. So that is what I will do.
For three months, you have been a gentle reminder of fluidity of life, that nothing stays the same and no season lasts forever.
